In the Spring of 1989, I was 16 years old, my mother, Sharon McCollum Knight, was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called leiomyosarcoma. She was given six months to live at the age of 37. She survived over 28 years until July 2017. My husband, Matt Fowler, is a 28-year adult survivor of childhood cancer (diagnosed with Hodgkin’s in 1991). Gratitude and the legacy of giving continue to be my inspiration.

Polo in the Pines is 100% volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to the mission of funding specific cancer research, spreading awareness and family support partnered with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Since partnering with Children’s in 2017, $523,000 has been raised specifically for pediatric brain tumor research at Children’s with the generous support of our community.

Polo in the Pines was founded in 2012 with the help of my husband, Matt Fowler, my father, Collins Knight III,  family, friends and business partners who share in the commitment to giving back and share in the success with gratitude.  Matt Fowler, Georgia Water & Fire Restoration, and Collins Knight, Engineering & Equipment, have given their steadfast commitment since the inaugural year to invest in the lives of others facing this terrible disease.  From our family to yours we share in the privilege and responsibility to honor the Legacy of Giving. Join us on October 5 and 6.
