Georgia wants YOU to be a Dementia Friend

An estimated 5.4 million Americans are living with dementia, and it’s likely you will encounter someone at the park, the bank, the grocery, or your gym.  Georgia held the Inaugural Dementia Friends Champion training at the Emory Center for Brain Health and wants to share how you can support your family, friends, and neighbors.  Robin Andrews Smith will host the first workshop at Orchard at Brookhaven May 23 from 7-8:30 p.m. 1634 Afton Lane Brookhaven

Bright Side at Northside

Northside Hospital employees are overwhelmingly optimistic about Northside’s future. The hospital has won an award for Best Company Outlook for 2019 from workplace culture and compensation monitoring site Comparably. Northside ranked 17th on the list of top large companies (more than 500 employees) across the United States, was the 2nd highest Georgia company ranked and the only hospital. Comparably’s annual “Best” lists showcase companies that receive the highest ratings on throughout the year based on anonymous feedback from employees about work environment, compensation, leadership and more. This is the third award Northside has received from Comparably in recent months. The hospital previously was recognized with awards for Company Culture and Company for Women.

New Resto

With interior construction well underway in the white “jewel-box” flanking Alpharetta City Center’s Town Green, Botiwalla — from chef and restaurateur Meherwan Irani — is on track to open later this month. Botiwalla is the newest concept from Irani’s growing restaurant and spice empire, Chai Pani Restaurant Group. The first Botiwalla opened three years ago in Atlanta’s Ponce City Market where it quickly became known for craveworthy grilled chicken, lamb, paneer, and steak wrapped in hot naan with fresh herbs, smoky Lamb Burgers, finger lickin’ chaat like SPDP (Sev Potato Dahi Puri) and Masala Smashed Potatoes, and the cult-followed Desi Salad. In addition to snacks and grilled meats, the restaurant features boozy slushies, afternoon high tea, and retail items such as Irani’s own Spicewalla spices, roasted and packed by hand in Asheville, North Carolina..

FSA Science Olympians win State Title!

The Fulton Science Academy Science Olympiad won its first state championship in team history. The team has been focused on their event studies since September and put in extra effort since the Regional Tournament in February. Students and coaches came in early, worked through lunch and recess, stayed at school late into the evening, and devoted Saturday mornings toward this goal. The team concentrated on improving weaker events while still trying to advance their strongest events. The team will now travel to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, for the National Tournament. Good luck from everyone here at Alpharetta Lifestyle!
