First things first, you’ll need a pool. Nancy McMinn from Rhonda Shell Realty was gracious enough to allow us to host at one of her beautiful properties on Lake Windward in Alpharetta.
Next — you’re of course going to need a cute suit and accessories. South Moon Under, located in the Avalon, has got you covered. They are your one-stop-summer-shop! Here you’ll find beautiful cover-ups, unique swimsuits, woven hats, and stylish sunglasses.
And, what’s a pool party without light bites and cocktails?! Marlow’s Tavern has an incredible “cucumber-rita” recipe that you can easily whip up at your party. On a hot summer day, this refreshing cocktail is sure to keep everyone cool. Then, all you will need is light snacks and fresh fruit for your guests.
Last and certainly not least, a very important part to any pool party – floats! These days, your fun pool float options are endless. From fancy swans to pizza and donut shaped floats, these are sure to be a hit with your guests. They provide the perfect photo opportunity!
Now that you have gotten all the tips for a successful pool party – get that guest list together, put on your punchy playlist, blow up your floats, shake those cocktails and jump into summer!

Marlow’s Tavern Cucumber Rita
1.5 Ounces Herradura Reposado Tequila
.5 Ounces Brovo Boomerang
2 Pieces of Cucumber (2 inches in length and quartered)
Splash House-Made Sour
Half rim of kosher salt
Add first three ingredients and muddle. Add sour and fresh ice. Shake vigorously. Fine strain into a Collins glass with half rim of salt, lime wedge, and cucumber ribbon.
When Marlow’s Tavern Executive Chef, CEO & Co-Founder John C. Metz and Manager of Adult Beverages Rick Blumberg were crafting the summer cocktail list for Marlow’s they wanted a twist on the traditional margarita. Blumberg notes that margaritas can be a bit heavy and sweet, while this version, featuring lime and cucumber is extremely refreshing and light. The cocktail brings the garden into the glass and is perfect for summer! Visit Marlow’s at Avalon and check out the menu and hours at MarlowsTavern.com.
