Goldfish Swim School splish-splashed its way into our Alpharetta community and has local families bubbly about the water! From first-time greetings with the agua to instruction on furthering swimming skill-sets, this school has changed the mentality behind pool time. Upon its official January 2017 opening, Goldfish swim has seen bouncy babies to tiny tots to growing guppies and everyone in between. As the first location in Georgia, our neighborhood is totally embracing this new take on water classes and running (and swimming) with it!
Owner and General Manager Mark Sheppell says that Alpharetta and Johns Creek families have already witnessed the difference of this school from others because of the concepts they’re teaching, the passion of the instructors, and the overall vibe of the pool and building itself.
“Our goal is to teach every child to swim – the earlier the better!” Sheppell says. “We’re working on breaking bad habits, or better yet, not developing any along with making sure there’s no fear of the water at any age.”
Goldfish Swim School welcomes little ones, ages four months to 12 years, to enter into the year-round tropical oasis that features a 90 degree, 25- yard pool with various lane options, bright and inviting colors surrounding a large mural of fish and underwater animals, changing areas, storage cubbies, a retail section with pool and snack-time necessities, and a seating and viewing area for parents and guardians. With five different groups for swim lessons based on age and skill level, this school promotes gradual improvement and constant success in regards to your child’s progression in the water.
Striving to promote safety first, the staff ensures that parents are involved in the process, every stroke of the way! Weekly progress reports and an open-invitation to watch every single class are among the ways that Goldfish Swim is making an effort to keep our local little ones safe before the ever-so popular pool season starts.
Ashlee Schrafft, mother to Merritt, knew that this school was the perfect fit when her daughter was immediately introduced to hanging onto the side of the pool as she entered the water.
“She is very young, and it gives comfort to you as a parent knowing that your child is learning skills that could potentially save their life one day,” Schrafft says.
Julie Johnson, mother to Claire, 5, and Ava, 4, also appreciates the extra effort that the instructors are making every week that she brings her daughters to Goldfish Swim School.
“They have an organized system for bringing the kids into the pool area, as well as inviting the families into the pool area at the end of each session to show off your child’s new skills and speak to the instructors about your child’s progress,” Johnson explains. “The instructors tailor their approach to the needs of each individual child, know when a child needs additional encouragement and when they need to be challenged.”
Both mothers recognize that the instructors are tailoring their approaches to each swimmer based on their individual needs and abilities. And, not only are your child’s needs met within the pool, but the staff also recognizes that not every family’s schedule aligns. With various class and lesson options, families are able to attend classes at a rate that’s convenient and comfortable for them. Among the weekly swim clinics are family swim sessions, private birthday parties, and even a swim team that began in early March.
By bringing the community together, one swim class at a time, Goldfish Swim School is ensuring that pool, beach and lake season will be a blast around the Alpharetta area. Whether you’re just now ready to sign up for swim classes or you’ve been seeking a new option around town, you’re able to test out a trial lesson or schedule month-to-month class options that can be altered or paused at any time. With the customer service to match the quality of instruction that your child is guaranteed to receive at Goldfish Swim School, you’ll be at-ease knowing that your little guppie is learning to love the water at just the right pace!
