I wish I were five again! I’d make my bed every day, eat all my vegetables and be quick with my please and thank you’s for months so my parents might just consider booking my birthday party at Olivia’s Dollhouse Tea Room in Johns Creek. We sat down with Brandi Hightower, the CEO and owner of the adorable shop and venue to ask about how dreams do come true.
Johns Creek Lifestyle: How did you launch this concept? Were you a princess in a former life?
Brandi Hightower: I opened Olivia’s Dollhouse Tea Room in September of 2013. I actually transitioned from my former profession of Financial Reporting Management for P&C Insurance Companies. I had just completed my Master’s Degree, and I had just had my son who is now 5. Once I had him, I made the decision that I would not be going back to corporate America. I would be focusing on my family and I would be following my dreams.
JCL: We’re so happy to have you in Johns Creek.
BH: I chose Johns Creek because it’s a great city. When I researched it, the City was new and growing. I fell in love with the opportunity that I saw for the City in the future. Not to mention that there were a plethora of schools, children, and moms who would LOVE Olivia’s Dollhouse Tea Room and what we have to offer.
JCL: Tell us about your team.
BH: I am married, with three children (ages 4, 5 and 16). I love to create and to travel and enjoy cooking and baking (but enjoy eating at new restaurants more!)
Nancy Martinez is our Store Manager and longest staffer. She LOVES children and doing hair. You will almost always see her at your party at Olivia’s Dollhouse and you will always request her when you come back. Diana Delgadillo is a Hostess and is energetic and dependable. She’s always moving, never stops. Hayley Dahl is a Hostess and one half of our Dollhouse resident twins. She has been with me for over a year. She loves horseback riding, and she’s really good at it. She is headed off to college soon, but will still be here during the summers and holidays. Sarah Scime is a Hostess and Princess Character. She’s newer to our team and we’re proud she’s headed to Guatemala on a mission trip in April. Peyton Sutton is a Hostess and a student and cheerleader at school. She is great at hair styling and she loves polishing nails. Leah Burnett is a Hostess and Princess Character. You might find dressed as a Disney inspired princess character singing at a Tea Time, or walking the Founder’s Day Parade. You also might know her mom, the amazing Miss Gail of Miss Gail & the Jumping Jam Band. Gabbi Pustelnik is a Hostess. When she’s home from college for the holidays, weekends, and summer, you might find her hosting a party at the Dollhouse or you might find her hosting at Another Broken Egg Café on Medlock Bridge Road. Hannah Dahl is a Hostess and is the other half of our Dollhouse resident twins. Although she looks like her sister, she couldn’t be more different. Hannah loves to sing and she’s very much into theater and performing.
JCL: How do dreams come true?
BH: Olivia’s Dollhouse Tea Room is a unique, real-life fairytale Dollhouse designed just for your princess. We are a full service, private, boutique venue and we just host one party at a time. Our parties are stress-free and all inclusive. The parents show up with the birthday girl and everything else is taken care of. The first thing that happens when the birthday girl arrives, she’s crowned, she’s queen for the day. She and her court are escorted into what we call the dressing room of their dreams. Our dressing room holds over 100 dresses- princess dresses, party dresses, homecoming style dresses in all sizes. The room is also lined with shoes all around the room. We have a standing jewelry box full of clip-on earrings, bracelets and rings where they can accessorize until their heart’s content. We also have costumes for boys. We have a variety of superhero costumes, prince costumes & gentlemanly attire.
JCL: And there’s more?
BH: Once guests are dressed up, they receive makeovers. They get their hair done, nails done and makeup done. Finally, they are ready to walk our red carpet. Our staff MC’s and hosts a red carpet fashion show, and our parents play paparazzi. When the fashion show is done, they are ready for tea! Our tea room holds a huge custom made heart shaped table under a big pink chandelier. There is a pink and gold throne at the head of the table where birthday girl sits, she gets a bell that she rings for service and they are served a 3-course royal tea party on real china. We include everything for the kids, including the birthday cake, keepsake photos for each guest, treasure chest party favors and a keepsake porcelain doll for the birthday girl.
