Swim Across America’s 4th annual Atlanta Open Water Swim will be held at its newest venue at Lake Lanier on Saturday, September 17. A national non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for cancer research through nationwide swimming events, Swim Across America (SAA) unites Olympians, recreational and competitive swimmers, master swimmers, kayakers and dozens of volunteers all committed to raising funds for early stage research at Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Close to 20 Olympians will join more than 500 regional swimmers for the 1-mile and 5K course options, as well as a 4 X ½-mile relay. The Atlanta Open Water Swim will be alive with entertainment, music, awards, patient stories and family friendly activities including access to Lanier Islands Sunset Cove. Prior to Swim Across America, you can improve your stroke technique and efficiency by attending an Open Water Swim Clinic at Lake Lanier, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on September 11.
